The Standards Based Grades Dashboard shows how students are performing against individual standards, across a school, a term, and whichever subjects, courses, teachers, or proficiency sets you filter to.
It sits alongside the Traditional Grades dashboard under BeaconAI > Grades. Traditional Grades reports on course grades; this page reports on standard mastery.
Access
Two Admin Portal permissions control this page:
BeaconAI grants access to BeaconAI at all.
Grades shows the Grades section in the BeaconAI navigation. There is no separate permission for Standards Based Grades, so this one setting controls both the Standards Based Grades and Traditional Grades pages together.
Two further permissions change what a user sees rather than whether they see the page:
View Insights for All District Schools and Students removes the school and student limits that a user's school roles would otherwise apply.
View Insights for All Students in Users' Schools removes the student limit within the schools the user already has.
Data controls whether the user can reach the underlying Data Source.
Note: Without either override, a user sees only the schools and students their school roles already allow. See BeaconAI: Assigning Roles and Permissions.
Open the Dashboard
Go to BeaconAI > Grades > Standards Based Grades.
Under the page title you will see data last refreshed with a date and time. BeaconAI reports on a periodic refresh rather than live data, so a grade entered moments ago will not appear until the next refresh.
Choose a Filter Route
The page offers two ways in, and you use one or the other. Two buttons sit above the filters:
Filter By Subject starts from a subject and narrows by course and teacher. Use it to ask how a subject or a teacher's classes are doing.
Filter By Proficiency starts from a proficiency set and narrows through grade level, subject, domain, and an individual standard. Use it to ask how students are doing on particular standards.
Each route has its own filters and its own required fields.

Filters cascade. Choosing a higher-level filter resets the ones that depend on it, so work left to right.
Until the required filters are set, the charts show No Data with a message naming what is still missing.
Note: The two cards at the top of the page are populated before you choose any filters, while the charts below still read No Data. The cards start from everything you have access to and narrow as you filter; the charts wait until they have enough to work with.
Side Filters
The Filters button above the charts opens a demographic panel that applies across the whole page: Grade Level, Sex, Reported Race, Programs, and Enrollment Status.
These stack on top of the route filters, so you can ask a question like how one program's students are performing within a single subject.
The Summary Cards
Two cards sit at the top of the page.
Pass Rate is the share of standard mastery grades that met or beat the passing score, shown as a percentage with a progress bar.
Proficiency Breakdown splits the same grades three ways, into Proficient, Approaching, and Needs Support.
Note: Both cards respond to the page filters and the side filters, so they describe the same group of students as the charts below them. This differs from the cards on BeaconAI: Student Explorer, which always show totals for every student you have access to regardless of filters.
How Pass and Proficiency Are Determined
Neither is set on the dashboard. Both come from the grading scale attached to the class:
Pass or fail is the minimum passing score on that grading scale.
Proficiency level is the red, yellow, and green assignment on that grading scale, shown as Needs Support, Approaching, and Proficient.
Warning: Because the scale is attached to the class, the passing threshold can differ between classes inside the same view. If a pass rate looks wrong, check the grading scale on the classes involved under Settings > Grading Policies before assuming the dashboard is at fault.
Two further rules govern what is counted:
Only assignment scores set to count toward the final grade are included.
Each standard is counted on its own rather than rolled up across standards.
Note: For a student enrolled at more than one school, standards data is attributed to the school where the class was taken.
The Charts
Six charts sit below the filters. Each carries an information icon that explains what it covers, and an icon that opens the matching student records in the Data Source.
Most charts offer a Pass/Fail or Proficiency Level toggle, and several offer a count (#) or percentage (%) toggle.
Proficiency Distribution. A doughnut covering every standard mastery grade in the current view, with the pass rate in the center.
Proficiency Distribution by Grade Level. The same split broken out per grade level.
Proficiency Distribution by Teacher. The same split broken out per teacher, full width.
Standards Pass Rate at a Glance. The ten highest and ten lowest standards by pass rate, with a Top 10 and Bottom 10 toggle.
Standards Mastery at a Glance. The ten highest and ten lowest standards by proficiency level, with the same toggle.
Standard Assessment Frequency. The ten most and ten least assessed standards by number of assignments, with a Most Assessed and Least Assessed toggle. Use it to spot standards that are being over-assessed or missed entirely.
In the Pass/Fail view, green is Pass and red is Fail. In the Proficiency Level view, green is Proficient, yellow or orange is Approaching, and red is Needs Support. These colors stay bound to the level even when no students fall into one of them.
See the Underlying Records
Every number on this page traces back to the Data Source, which lists one row per student per standard, with the student, school, grade level, demographics, teacher, course, subject, term, proficiency set, domain, standard, mastery scores, proficiency levels, pass or fail, and assignment counts.
You can reach it three ways:
Select Data Source in the BeaconAI navigation for the whole table.
Select a card or a segment of a chart to open the table filtered to just those records.
Select the chevron on a standard row to open the table filtered to that term, subject, and standard.
Note: Reaching the Data Source requires the Data permission. Without it, the navigation entry and the drill-through are not available.
Troubleshooting
The charts say No Data but the cards show numbers. The required filters are not all set yet. Filter By Subject needs a school, term, and subject; Filter By Proficiency needs a school, term, and proficiency set.
A standard is missing from the dashboard. Check that the assignment scores behind it count toward the final grade. Scores excluded from the final grade are excluded here too.
The pass rate does not match what the school expects. The threshold comes from each class's grading scale, not from the dashboard, and it can differ between classes in the same view.
A recent grade change is not showing. Check the data last refreshed time under the page title. The page reports on refreshed data rather than live data.
Standards Based Grades is missing from the menu. The role needs the BeaconAI permission and the Grades permission. Grades controls the Traditional Grades page too, so if one is missing both will be.
